Principal’s Message
I am delighted to welcome you to St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School Maroubra Junction. Our school offers students a unique and personalised education allowing them to achieve their best in many curricular and co-curricular domains.
Our teachers are highly skilled, passionate and enthusiastic educators, committed to ensuring every student receives a contemporary education with the skills needed for an increasingly changing world.
We believe that learning is done in partnership with parents, who are warmly welcomed into our school community. A wide range of technologies are used to deliver a dynamic and differentiated education which connects us with local and global communities, within a nurturing and inclusive school environment. We encourage authentic student participation with students given opportunities to make decisions on matters that affect them. They are active in social justice and are explicitly taught social and emotional skills to enhance their resilience and wellbeing.
St Aidan’s is a Brigidine school. Building upon this tradition and its values of hospitality, compassion and justice we have a strong and engaged commitment to social justice which is supported by our families.
Please enjoy exploring our website and feel welcome to contact the school if you require further information.
Rachel Baker
Principal
St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School Maroubra Junction began in 1915, a year after the parish of Maroubra was established. The Brigidine Sisters staffed the school, with Sr Paul King as first principal. For the first two decades St Aidan’s was a primary school, beginning with 60 boys and girls. From 1934 girls were taught in lower secondary and in 1958 the school extended to the Leaving Certificate. Therefore, St Aidan’s catered for junior primary boys, and for girls from Kindergarten to Year 5 secondary. This remained the case until 1989 when it became solely a K–6 school for both boys and girls. Further refurbishment of the school took place during 2009–2011 with construction of a school hall and new classroom facilities.
