Our teachers know their students and work with them to help them realise their potential as learners. Our focus on authentic learning and authentic assessment ensures that we challenge our students to grow in their learning and achieve their personal best.
Throughout our community of Sydney Catholic schools, we have shown high performance of our students in measures such as NAPLAN and the HSC.
At St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School Maroubra Junction, students are encouraged to set specific learning and personal goals at the beginning of each year. Through goal setting, teachers have the opportunity not only to scaffold the stages of learning for students but also engage them in problem-solving, application and organisational life skills.
Students are active in the process, developing creative thinking, independence and responsibility. Every child at St Aidan’s receives access to learning programs that specifically cater to their individual learning needs, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
St Aidan’s is a Newman Selective Gifted Education School, consequently a major focus is to identify gifted students across all areas including academic, sporting and the creative arts to provide appropriate programs to meet these students’ needs.
